Punjab Government has suspended the licenses of 18 private de-addiction centres in the state, with immediate effect.
Spokesperson of Punjab’s Drug Administration Wing on Sunday said that the samples of Buprenorphine and Naloxone collected from these centres were not of standard quality.
“It is the responsibility of the concerned Centres to ensure the quality of drugs being dispensed from their de-addiction centres. In view of this, license for substance use disorder treatment centre, granted to these centres, have been suspended under Rule 11 of the Punjab Substance use disorder, treatment and Counselling and rehabilitation centres Rules 2011,” said the spokesperson.
Besides, a show cause notice has been served to them as to why the drugs dispensed by them were not of the laid down quality. The Centres have been asked to submit their representation within 15 days and failing to do so would result in cancellation of the licenses, informed the spokesperson.
