Rahul's Amethi visit begins today

Wednesday, 23 January 2019 | PNS | Lucknow

The proposed visit of United Progressive Alliance (UPA) chairperson Sonia Gandhi to her parliamentary constituency Rae Bareli, has been postponed but Congress chief Rahul Gandhi will be visiting Amethi for two days starting Wednesday. This was confirmed by UP Congress spokesperson Zeeshan Haider in Lucknow on Tuesday.

Meanwhile, Congress leaders at Amethi said that Rahul Gandhi, who was slated to reach Fursatganj airport at 10 am on Wednesday morning, would now reach there around 1:30 pm due to some flight regulation in New Delhi on account of Republic Day rehearsal.

In Lucknow, UPCC spokesman confirmed that Rahul, instead of directly going to Amethi, would arrive at Chowdhary Charan Singh International Airport in Lucknow at 10 am in the morning and would later proceed by road to his parliamentary constituency. Senior leaders of the party, including state president Raj Babbar, along with a large number of Congressmen, will give a warm reception to Rahul as it will be his first visit to the state this year as well as after winning the recent Assembly elections in three Hindi-speaking States.

As per the revised schedule of Rahul Gandhi, he will visit Shahid Smarak at Naharkothi and hold meeting with gram pradhans at Tiloi. Later, he will visit Namaksar village and then attend a programme of lawyers at Gauriganj Collectorate. Rahul will also visit the residence of former block pramukh at Dhaurali village in Mufasirkhana and meet senior Congress leader and former MP Rajkaran Singh at Newada village.

On January 24, the Congress president will visit some villages of Salon and meet local Congress leaders. Rahul will address a 'nukkad sabha' at Haliyapur and stay for the night at Bhueymau guesthouse, where he will meet party workers on the second day of his visit before leaving for Delhi.
