Rehab centre opened for mentally-ill men

The People’s Forum inaugurated a treatment and rehabilitation centre for mentally-ill men named “Mission Ashaloka’ here on Saturday.

Social Security and Empowerment of Persons with Disability Ashok Chandra Panda inaugurated the centre in the presence of Jatni MLA Suresh Kumar Routray, Khadi and Gramyodaga Board Chairman Sangram Paikaray and forum secretary Gobinda Chandra Patnaik. 

Before launching of the centre, the People’s Forum undertook a drive for three days and rescued as many as 43 mentally-ill persons from Bhubaneswar and Puri, informed Patnaik.

He said mentally-ill persons would be rescued from across the State and provided treatment free of cost at the Centre. A branch of the “Mission Ashaloka” would also operate at Jharsuguda, he said.

Minister Panda assured to provide required support to the forum from the Government.
