To assess the damage due to incessant rains in the state, Revenue Minister Gurpreet Singh Kangar on Saturday issued orders to conduct special girdawari (damage assessment) for the same.
A spokesperson of the Punjab Government stated that the Revenue Minister has authorised Deputy Commissioners concerned to issue orders for the same in areas where rains have wrecked damage. Deputy Commissioners, in case of any need to tackle situation arising out of flooding, could approach Financial Commissioner for any assistance, the spokesperson added.
The spokesperson said that the work to fill the gap in Ghagar at Khanouri was on at war level and would be completed within hours.
