Robbery gang busted, 7 held, Rs 11L seized

With the arrest of seven people, the Delhi Police on Monday claimed to have busted ‘Shetty Gang’ involved in several robbery incidents in Delhi and its peripheral areas. Police have also recovered Rs 11.20 lakhs, two country made improvised pistols, one country made pistol, 10 live cartridges and one bike used in the crime from their possession.

The accused have been identified as Kishor Vishwkarma (43) alias Shetty reisdent of  Jabalpu, Madhya Pardesh, Deepak Chauhan (36)resident of  Chajjupur, Delhi, Sonu Verma (41), Jitender (25) both resident of Loni Ghaziabad(UP), Pradeep Kumar (26) resident of Chajjupur, Delhi, , Ashok (45)  resident of Ghaziabad (UP) and Nitu (35) resident of Loni Ghaziabad (UP).

According to Atul Kumar Thakur, Deputy Commissioner of Police (DCP), North-east district, on December 26, 2018 a businessmen on a gunpoint at Babarpur was robbed of with Rs 60 lakhs which he had collected after supplying his goods to Shyma Traders situated in the vicinity of Seelampur Brahampuri.

“A case was registered and on tip off regarding one of the culprits following which police team laid down a trap on the signature bridge road and succeeded in arresting one of accused identified as Sonu Verma.  Further accused Sonu Verma lead to the arrest of his associates namely Jitender, Deepak and Pradeep. On their instance, other accused were also apprehended by the police,” said the DCP.

“During interrogation one of the accused Pradeep disclosed that he used to work with the complainant’s brother as money collection agent. He was aware about all timings and places where money is collected following which Pradeep, Sonu Verma and Deepak along with their associates plotted the entire conspiracy to earn easy money. They also convinced their other associates Ashok, Jitender, Lambu and Kishor to join them,” said the DCP).

“Accused Pradeep shared the information with his associates regarding availability of money with his employer. They also did recee and selected the place for committing robbery.  After committing the robbery they successfully distributed the robbed amount in the house of Jitender in Loni Ghaziabad (UP),” said the DCP adding that further investigation is going on.
