On completion and commissioning of electric traction between the Sambalpur and Titilagarh railway stations in the Jharasuguda-Vizianagaram railway section of the East Coast Railway (ECoR), the Howrah-Jagadalpur Samaleswari Express, Howrah-Titilagarh Ispat Express, Sambalpur-Nanded Express and Sambalpur-Rayagada Inter City Express are now running on electrification traction.
The Samleswari Express between Howrah and Rayagada, Ispat Express, Intercity Express and Nagabali Express are now running with electric locomotive.
As the electric locomotives are pollution free, energy efficient, environmental friendly and would save diesel, the Sambalpur Division is going for mass electrification and very soon all the trains in the division would be taken in electric traction.
