Taking action on a complaint filed in the commission where an infant girl allegedly died due to lack of proper services and negligence at Government Doon Medical College (GDMC) Hospital recently, the State Commission for Protection of Child Rights (SCPCR) chairperson, Usha Negi has sent a letter to the Chief Medical Officer (CMO) of Dehradun and asked him to appear before the commission on July 25.
In his complaint to the commission, one Anil Nautiyal, a resident of Raipur Banjarawala had alleged that an infant girl died because of the negligence of the staff of Community Health Centre (CHC) Raipur, GDMC Hospital and unavailability of 108 ambulances. He accused that even after the condition of the newborn was critical, the doctors and other staff members remained ignorant about it.
“When finally the situation slipped from their hand they referred the case to another hospital saying that the hospital has no ventilators. The ambulance of the 108 service too took it long to carry her to nearby hospital. Finally, when the newborn girl was taken to a private nursing home she was declared dead by the doctors,’’ said the complainant in his application.
