Bal Sakha and Bokaro police Samajik Pariwartan Sansthan organised a Seminar on ‘Juvenile Justice’ (Care and Protection of Children) Act at district police Conference hall, Bokaro here on Friday.
State coordinator Pijush Sen Gupta emphasised on the role of vibrant child protection mechanism in the district and the role of Judicial Officers and police in the implementation of the Juvenile Justice Act. He stressed that all the stakeholders must work in close coordination so that the mandate of the Act is achieved in letter and spirit on the ground. He also emphasised that the juvenile justice needs urgent attention from all the departments and the civil society as well. The participants raised various queries about establishing structures under the Act which is supported by the Integrated Child Protection Scheme.
Superintendent of police, Bokaro P. Murgoan and state coordinator also interacted with the participants.
Murgoan stressed that awareness of community is very important in order to stop exploitation of children, protection and development of children.
He added that in Bokaro whenever incidents of abuse are being reported, they are dealt with utmost priority and high sensitivity. Although there is no organized trafficking of children in district but we cannot ignore it. While State Coordinator stressed said that there are number of crimes happening in the society and children are watching all this. He also discussed about the discrimination among the girl children. He appealed all the participants to take care of all the children irrespective of their caste, colour, sex or religion.
Dy SP city Gyan Ranjan while interacting with the participants said that the incidents of child abuse and child exploitation have increased as compared to the past.
The Seminar was attended by Bokaro superintendent of police, P. Murgan, City Dy SP Gyan Ranjan, Dy SP (HQ), Satish Chandra Jha, SDPO Chas Bahaman Tuti, DySP (traffic) Madan Mohan Sinha, all Officers-in Charge and 100-120 Officials of Bokaro police department were present on the occasion.
