Shooting for Tik Tok app turns fatal for 19-yr-old

nCraze for shooting a video and in eagerness to upload on social media platform, proved fatal for 19-year-old on Saturday night, as he was killed by one of his friends. The youth’s friend was reportedly trying to make a video while holding a country made weapon (Katta) and shot at his face. The incident took place at Barakhambha Road and the injured youth Salman was taken to a hospital but was declared dead.

Police said, they have registered a case of murder and have arrested two friends of the deceased and are investigating whether it was an accidental firing or a case of homicide.

The deceased has been identified as Salman, a resident of New Jafrabad area of North east Delhi. According to a senior police official, information was received from the Lok Nayak Jai Prakash Hospital that one Salaman was admitted in the emergency ward after having received gunshot injury on his left cheek.

During investigation, it was revealed that Salman, along with his two friends Sohail, a resident of New Jafrabaad and Aamir, a resident of New Seelampur, had gone to India Gate in his Creta car. While they were returning from India Gate and reached near Ranjit Singh Flyover, Sohail, seated on the front seat along with  Salman who was driving. Sohail took out a country made pistol which he was carrying with him and fired upon aiming at Salman on the pretext of making video on ‘Tik Tok’ mobile application, said the senior police official. Salman was shot twice from a very close range.

Their friend Aamir was seated on the rear seat of the car when the incident happened, police said.  According to a relative of Salman, “Two of his friends came last night at his house and asked him to visit Indian Gate along with them following which Salman took his car and left the house. The incident took place while they were returning home on Saturday night.

Salman’s was the youngest child in his family and he has one elder brother and sister, he said. Salman was doing his graduation from distance learning. His father has a business of jacket and jeans in the Jafrabad area and he used to help him in the business, the relative said. On the intervening night of Saturday and Sunday, they received the information about the incident from police and reached the hospital”, he said.

The body of the deceased has been preserved in the hospital and the post-mortem will be conducted on Monday.  Police said that they are investigating whether the bullet was fired accidentally or the intent to kill the deceased.

A case under sections of murder and Arms Act has been registered at Barakhamba Police Station and both the accused persons have been arrested, they said.
