Uttar Pradesh Shia Central Waqf Board chairman Waseem Rizvi once again demanded that all madarsas be shut down as they had become breeding grounds for training terrorists for the ISIS.
He said madarsas had become the biggest threat to the national security as cache of arms were being recovered from their premises.
Rizvi said in a statement released here on Sunday that the government should shut down madarsas imparting religious education and open schools for secular education.
He said if the government delayed the tough action of shutting down madarsas, they would turn into centres for training soldiers for the ISIS and pose a threat to internal security of the country.
The Shia Waqf Board chairman renewed his demand in the wake of recovery of arms and ammunition in Bijnor.
Police also seized a car transporting the arms.
Along with a maulana, the ustad of the madarsa and six other persons were arrested by the police in this connection.
