Singh fiat to ensure safety of Smart City buildings

State Urban Development and Housing Minister CP Singh inspected the ongoing work of Smart City being developed on 656.3 acre land in Dhurwa on Saturday and directed the companies involved to complete work under the given timeline and maintain quality.

"I am proud that Ranchi stands among the top in 100 smart cities across the country and in quality and time is maintained, we will be the best," he said. Singh emphasised on maintaining greenery in the area and directed officials to plant such trees which make the city look green and beautiful.

While inspecting the under construction building of Urban Planning Management Institute (JUPMI), the minister directed the officials to ensure that the construction is completed before November this year.

Urban planning management will be taught in JUPMI being constructed on a 7.5 acre land. Youths interested in having a career in the sector of urban planning will be trained here along with officials of urban development department, ULBs and public representatives. The campus will also include hostel, staff quarters and other facilities.

The minister also inspected the buildings of convention centre and urban civic tower, both of which are under construction. The convention centre will have a seating capacity of 5000 people along with having a guest rooms, additional halls and parking facilities. The urban civic tower will have government and corporate offices.

The remaining land will be e-auction and used for developing educational, business, hospitality and residential places.

Singh directed the officials to abide by all the safety measures in the buildings, use best quality materials in construction of road, ensure maximum plantation and increase the pace of construction of command, control and communication centre. "If a work has to be completed in 24 months, set the timeline for 20 months," he said.

The minister also inspected the work of private company L&T, responsible for various necessary infrastructural development including electricity supply, drinking water supply, LPG pipeline, construction of sewerage and drainage, road, cycle lanes and others.

The officials of L&T made a power point presentation and informed about the integrated infrastructure development with a budget of Rs. 469.6 crore.

The main road of Smart City would stretch up to 21 kms of which 16 kms will be four lane and utility service line will be laid on the side of the road.
