Thursday, 14 March 2019 | Roshan Kumar | Ranchi

Pitched as driver of the coalition in making in Jharkhand, JMM executive president Hemant Soren referred the partners Congress, JVM and RJD as gravels, required to build a structure.

The comment came during his first live appearance on ‘twitter’ on Wednesday when he was replying to a question asked about the very need to go into huddle to contest Parliamentary and Assembly polls in the State.

“When you want to go a long way, want to take a higher leap you have to apply some tricks. Kisi mazil par jane ke liye, rajya ke liye, logon ke liye, kankar-patthar ko bhi sidhi banana padta hai,” responded the Leader of Opposition to a ‘follower’ from Dumka—his own bastion.

Hemant was quick to explain that the coalition has taken place for the wellbeing of the people and parties partnering into it would have to keep that into mind after coming into power.

The comment has come on the day when four of his party’s MLAs comprising from Kolhan belt raised their voice openly against the coalition. As per the understanding reached the Chaibasa Lok Sabha seats is to into Congress’ kitty where wife of former chief minister Madhu Koda is set to contest.

MLAs Sashi Bhusan Samad, Joba Manjhi, Deepak Birua were among those who opposed the party going into an alliance. “JMM is most powerful in Kolhan region. We will not leave Chaibasa. We apprised the executive president about this and he has assured us and told us to go and prepare,” said Joba Manjhi after the consultation on Wednesday.

About 120 people watched the ‘twitter chaupal’ of the former chief minister live and nearly 50 participated into the programme at ‘Sohrai Bhawan’ in person where JMM’s Bahragoda legislator Kunal Sarangi played anchor.

Hemant was also asked about the first task he would like to do after coming into power in the State and took incumbent domicile policy on target. “I would redefine the domicile policy and rectify it as per the sentiments of the people of the State. The employment policy would be such where maximum number of locals can get jobs,” said he.

The JMM leader also replied about malpractices in the JPSC and corruption in bureaucracy. “JPSC has been reduced to something like JAC. None of the exam conducted during its tenure so far has been free and fair. Similarly honest bureaucrats are forced to leave the State. Bureaucracy works as per the conditions you provide to them to work,” he answered lauding his brief stay in the office.

‘Twitteratis’ raised various other issues relating to joblessness, role of PSUs and private companies in employment generation, poor state of medical facilities, quality of education, scholarships to deprived sections and civic issues like traffic, street lights, sanitation etc.

Hemant even blamed common public for traffic chaos in capital Ranchi and urged them to obey rules and support the authorities in managing the system.
