Chhattisgarh State Power Transmission Company to further strengthen the electricity transmission in Bastar forest region, has made operational the newly constructed 220/132/33 KV substation constructed at a cost of Rs 75 crore. The capacity of substation is 200 MVA.
Power Companies chairman Shailendra Kumar Shukla said the substation will help in further strengthening the power supply in forest areas of Bastar but will also be used by proposed Jagdalpur-Kondagaon-Narayanpur-Raoghat-Bhanupratappur railway line. With this the number of 220/132 KV centres has increased to 25. There were only five centres at the inception of the state.
Shukla said the team of officials faced tough situations to install it as it is situated at Nelwaad, 10 kilometres from Narayanpur headquarters.
He further said earlier the consumers in tribal dominated areas were being supplied from 132/33 KV Masaura (Kondagaon) substation as the power supply line was stretched 50 km distance through forest, to Narayanpur. The farmers were facing low-voltage problem due to which they were unable to use irrigation pumps properly. Now, this problem will be resolved.
It will cover 125 villages including Orcha, Kondagaon, Makadi, Katekalyan, Benur, Chote Donger, Kundla, Kakabeda etc.
