Teachers’ Day observed as ‘Black Day’

The Non-Government Aided and Un-aided College Teaching and Non-Teaching (+2 and +3) Employees’ Association, Odisha observed the Teachers’ Day as ‘Black Day’ on Thursday as the

 State Government didn’t allegedly show any gesture for fulfilling their demands.

Association president Dr Deb Bijayi Mishra said the employees from across the State staged protest by wearing black badges in front of their colleges demanding regularisation of the services of teachers and other employees of different colleges, who have joined between June 1, 2008 and November 30, 2013.

Dr Mishra said the about 3, 000 teachers and employees have been working six hours a day since 11 years and have been giving their biometrics as per the Government directions but yet they have not been regularised.

The association members, also demanding service condition along with full aid, threatened that they would hold mass demonstrations in coming days if demands are not made. Among others, general secretary Abhaya Kumar Pradhan, treasurer Dibyakant Tripathy, Bimal Chandra Nandi and Santosh Kumar Ray were present.
