Three including a juvenile arrested in chilli powder loot case

In the case of loot with chilli powder, Vikasnagar police have arrested two men and one juvenile. The purported victim, in this case, has been identified as the mastermind of the entire plan. Police have also recovered 100 per cent of the money looted and the motorbike used to commit the crime. Dehradun Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP) Arun Mohan Joshi has awarded Rs 2,500 to the police team which solved the case.

The accused have been identified as Sabir Ali (22) and Amir. Both are natives of Saharanpur, Uttar Pradesh. The juvenile also hails from Saharanpur. He has been presented before Juvenile Justice Board.

Speaking with the media on Thursday, SSP Joshi said that the police teams have done the majority of the case workout doing surveillance and gathering intelligence.

According to the information provided by the local police, they received written complaint from the local representative of the Infra Micro Credit Cooperative Society that around Rs 2 lakh had been looted from their agent Sabir Ali, while he was going to distribute the money to village societies in Dharmawala village.

In the complaint, they stated that their agent was attacked by two men on a motorbike, who threw chilli powder in his face and then snatched the bag filled with money.

Upon receiving complaint, Vikasnagar police checked the CCTV footage of the area and found two men riding on a bike meeting the description. The suspicious motorbike was traced and it was found that the accused hail from Saharanpur. After that, the two were arrested from their home in Saharanpur.

During the interrogation, accused Amir said that it was Sabir who made the entire plan.

They started planning about 20 days ago. Accused Sabir claimed that he was in debt of about Rs 4 lakh, because of which he planned this to earn some quick money.
