The ongoing tussle between Mayor and Councillors of Hazaribag Muncipal Corporation (HMC) has reached the door of local MP and MLA. The elected councillor of civic body with their demand on Wednesday staged a day long dharna in support of their demands.

The councillors with their demand on Wednesday also reached Hazaribag MP and former minister of state for finance Jayant Sinha and Hazaribag Sadar MLA Manish Jaiswal urging them to intervene on the issue. The councillors claimed that due to lack of cooperation provided by Mayor Roshni Tirki and deputy Mayor, much of the civic works at HMC has come to standstill.

A councillor alleged that as per HMC rules, for any civic work to be carried out by the councillor the fund has to be allotted by civic body, but the Mayor and deputy Mayor has put a brake on release of funds resulting in no work being started. However, the Mayor claimed that the councillor are not interested  in executing the civic work seriously and they are only concern with cut money in these civic work.

The Mayor claimed that most of the councillors are acting as contractors and not as elected civic body representatives. On the Wednesday the Mayor along with deputy Mayor and some councillors met Sinha and Jaiswal and listed them about their grievances.  The councillor alleged that both the Mayor and deputy Mayor have not done even a single development work in town.

The construction of roadshed, roads in the old wards of town and installation of LED lights are yet to commence. Meanwhile, Sinha and Jaiswal assured the councilors that they will talk to Mayor and deputy Mayor. Meanwhile, Sinha and Jaiswal have requested councillors to cooperate with Mayor and deputy Mayor.

Also, the delegation of councillors has requested Chief Minister Raghubar Das for time to sort out the differences. The councillors alleged that more than Rs 30 crores is lying unused with Corporation.
