Habibganj GRP have arrested two persons and seized Rs 20 lakh cash from their possession while conducting checking in New Delhi-Bhopal Shatabdi Express on Wednesday. Information about unaccounted cash was provided to Lok Sabha cell, IT department and the SDM concerned.
The strict vigil in the wake of the upcoming elections resulted in the arrest of the two persons. The police nabbed two Lalitpur based persons.
The two persons were identified as Rajkumar Tiwari and Ashish Dixit. Police said that on Wednesday, the Habibganj GRP Police, while checking the Bhopal bound Shatabdi Express, had found the activities of the two persons suspicious.
They were from Lalitpura. The two were carrying cash in a bagpack. The money was seized and action is being taken under the directions of the Election Commission of India.
The DGP VK Singh held a meeting with officials and SHOs of railway police and orderned them to maintain strict vigil on trains and passengers to stop the movement of illegal money, illegal liquor and other narcotics so as to conduct fair elections.
The ADG Railways Aruna Mohan Rao has instructed to work with special strategy to keep a tab on criminals on running trains.
In a bid to check crimes and movement of criminals using the trains, IG Railway DP Gupta and SP Bhopal Railway Manish Agrawal are monitoring such incidents.
The details of the unaccounted money are yet to be known.
