Wasim Akram, Deputy Director-Special Projects, Wildlife SOS, said “When rescuing snakes, we have to initially ensure that all potential hiding places are scrutinized, and escape routes blocked off, so we don’t lose them. Then we need to carefully remove the snake without cornering it or alarming it too much so as to prevent any accidents. Dealing with venomous snakes can be quite challenging but our team is trained to handle and carry out such sensitive operations.”

The common cobra (najanaja) is one of the four venomous snake species to be found in the Indian subcontinent.
