The Uttarakhand Kranti Dal (UKD) will be celebrating the 19th State foundation day in Gairsain on November 9. Taking the slogan ‘Gaon Bachao-Rajya Bachao’ as its motto, the UKD will also be starting its mass contact programme in the State.
UKD Mahanagar head Sunil Dhyani said, “Though the Chief Minister Trivendra Singh Rawat has announced that the State foundation day will be celebrated for an entire week, in true essence, the celebration will be genuine only if the government announces Gairsain as the permanent capital of the state.”
He further said, “The statehood movement was undertaken for the development of the people of mountainous regions of Uttarakhand, but today the politicians and the influential people are increasingly getting comfortable in the conditions of Dehradun.
The development in mountainous regions of Uttarakhand has remained as it was in the past. To have capital of a mountain State in the mountains was the demand of all statehood activist and those who lost their lives in the movement.”
Dhyani stated that if the State Government once again fails in making the announcement to make Gairsain the permanent Capital, UKD will start a movement in support of this demand.
