Under trial prisoner who escaped from Dhamtari Jail nabbed

An under trial prisoner who had escaped from Dhamtari district jail on Thursday morning was later nabbed by a police team in injured condition from a nearby village.

Superintendent of Police Dhamtari, Balaji Rao Somawar informed The Pioneer that prisoner Itwari Singh hails from Abhanpur village of Raipur district. 

“The prisoner was in injured condition and one of his legs was broken during his escape from the jail. He has been hospitalized for the treatment”, the official further informed.

Three of the Jail Praharis of the district jail were suspended for dereliction of duties and a probe into the incident was ordered, he said.

Police also registered a case under section 224 of IPC against the prisoner and is further investigating into the matter, he added.
