Hundreds of students along with dozens of teachers today took a pledge to use their electoral power in the upcoming Lok Sabha Poll in a voter’s awareness programme organsied by district administration Bokaro under SVEEP.
In an endeavour to extend electoral literacy to adult populations in various organisations a special category of Election Literacy Club (ELC) known as the Voter Awareness programme was organised for the students of class 11 and 12 by the team of Systematic Voters’ Education and Electoral Participation (SVEEP) here in DPS where students and teachers led by DPS Bokaro Principal AS Gangwar took a pledge to cast their rights in the forthcoming elections.
Prabhakar Banwar, District Ambassador of Systematic Voters’ Education and Electoral Participation (SVEEP) Programme under which voter’s awareness programme was carried here stated that SVEEP is a programme of multi interventions through different modes and media designed to educate citizens, electors and voters about the electoral process in order to increase their awareness and participation in the electoral processes. SVEEP is designed according to the socio-economic, cultural and demographic profile of the state as well as the history of electoral participation in previous rounds of elections and learning thereof.
During the programme, the importance of every single vote was explained for the formation of a strong government in a democracy. The expert also explained about helpline number 1950 for the voters.
