A two-day workshop on beneficial schemes for students belonging to minorities started at Doon University here on Saturday. The workshop is being organised under joint aegis of the Doon University and Delhi school of professional studies and research in association with department of minorities of Government of India. Addressing the workshop, the Chair Professor, Centre for public policy, Doon University, H S Das, said that the workshop would be of immense help to the students of minority communities.
Presiding over the inaugural session, the chairman of the advanced studies research and development centre of Delhi school of professional studies and research, B P Singh highlighted various schemes of the government of India and said that education is the only tool for development of any society. The chief guest on the occasion was member of the state minorities’ commission, Seema Javed.
She said that both union and state governments are committed for welfare of minorities.
In one of the technical sessions organised on the day, the Dean Students Welfare (DSW), H C Purohit informed about, Seekho aur Kamao, Ustad, Nai Udan and Pardesh schemes.
The registrar of the university Magal Singh Mandrawal , many students and faculty members attended the workshop.
