CRPF, BSF report 9,000 Covid-19 cases each; 66 die of pandemic

The CRPF and BSF have  reported about 9,000 Covid-19 infections each till now and lost around total 66 men due to the pandemic. The combined Covid-19 infections of the CRPF, BSF, ITBP, CISF and SSB have reached 29,377 and these Forces have suffered 101 casualties till now. 

The Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF) has reported 8,992 cases of Covid-19 infections of which 7,609 have recovered from the disease while 1,342 patients continue with the illness. As many as 41 patients have succumbed to the disease. With a strength of 3.25 lakh personnel, the CRPF is the world’s largest paramilitary force.

Likewise, the Border Security Force (BSF) has reported 8,826 Covid-19 infections out of which 1,704 are active 7,097 have recovered.

The paramilitary has suffered 25 casualties due to the viral disease. The BSF tasked to secure the frontiers with Bangladesh and Pakistan is the world’s largest border guarding paramilitary.

Both the Forces have added about 5,000 cases of infections in the last three weeks since August 23.

The Central Industrial Security Force (CISF) has reported 5,319 Covid-19 infections including 1,321 active cases and 3,974 recoveries besides 24 casualties.

The Indo-Tibetan Border Police (ITBP) has also reported nearly 3,300 cases of infection till now including 2,299 recoveries and 997 active cases besides four casualties.

The Sashastra Seema Bal (SSB) has reported 2,990 cases till now including 934 active patients and 1,999 recoveries besides seven deaths.

Meanwhile, the ITBP on Sunday said that the world’s largest Covid-19 hospital run by it is the 10,000 –bedded Sardar Patel Covid Care Centre and Hospital, Chhatarpur here has discharged 2,454 patients after successful treatment.

The Centre formally started taking patients from July 5  a total of 3,921 have been admitted at the centre. Out of these, 2454 have been discharged after being successfully treated. Only 81 of them have been referred to other hospitals. Till date, the oldest patient cured here was 78 years old and the youngest being a 17 days infant. The Centre has not reported a single death in the last five weeks since its inception. All facilities are being provided free of cost to all strata of the society, the ITBP said, adding the paramilitary has been handling Covid-19 cases since January under the stewardship of the ITBP DG SS Deswal.
