1,043 new Covid patients, 15 deaths in U’khand

Infection tally mounts to 3,3016; highest ever single-day recovery recorded

The relentless forward pursuit of infection of novel coronavirus (Covid-19) is continuing in Uttarakhand. The State health department reported 1043 fresh cases of the disease on Monday which lifted the tally of patients to 33016 in the state. The virus took the lives of 15 patients on the day. A total of 429 deaths have so far been reported in the state due to the dreaded disease. In what can be termed as a positive note amid the all round gloom generated by the disease, the authorities discharged 1037 patients from different hospitals of the state after their recovery. A total of 22077 patients have so far been cured from the disease. The recovery percentage for Covid-19 patients in the state is at 66.87 percent. The infection rate (IR) which indicates the extent of contagion is at 6.51 percent in Uttarakhand. The IR is the number of samples tested positive from among the total samples tested. The doubling rate of the disease in Uttarakhand is 21.89 days.

In All India Institute of Medical Sciences (AIIMS) Rishikesh, nine patients of Covid-19 were reported dead on Monday. Similarly four patients of the disease expired at Sushila Tiwari Government hospital, Haldwani and two patients succumbed to the disease at Government Doon Medical College (GDMC) hospital on Monday.

The provisional state capital Dehradun is continuing to suffer from the onslaught of the disease. On Monday 385 patients were reported from Dehradun district. Similarly 224 patients were reported in Haridwar, 214 in Udham Singh Nagar, 46 in Nainital, 37 in Uttarkashi, 36 in Chamoli, 24 in Tehri and 23 in Pauri district on Monday. In Champawat district 20 patients were reported while 19 patients in Pithoragarh, seven in Almora, five in Rudraprayag and three in Bageshwar were reported.

On Monday 1037 patients recovered from Covid-19 which is the highest single day recovery figure in the state. On the day 271 patients were discharged in Dehradun, 197 in Haridwar, 171 in Udham Singh Nagar, 154  in Almora, 124 in Nainital and 53 patients were discharged in Uttarkashi district. In Chamoli and Pauri 29 and 23 patients were cured respectively while 11 patients were discharged in Champawat district. Incidentally in the last two days more than 2000 patients have been discharged from hospitals after recovery from the disease.

Uttarakhand now has 10374 active patients of the disease with Dehradun maintaining its top position in the table. Here 3286 active patients of the disease are there. Dehradun is followed by Haridwar with 2148 active patients while Udham Singh Nagar is at third position with 1190 active patients. Nainital has 1149, Pauri 521, Tehri 443, Uttarkashi 331, Champawat 292 and Rudraprayag 264 active patients of the disease. Pithoragarh has 256 active cases, Chamoli 172, Almora 163 and Bageshwar 159 active cases of the disease. 

To prevent the contagion from spreading the authorities have made 496 containment zones. Haridwar district has 370 such zones while Dehradun has 37 containment zones.
