18 new Covid containment zones in G’gram

The number of containment zones in the district has increased to 63 from 45 on Thursday with new additions in the Gurugram district. The district administration added 18 areas in the district to the revised list of containment zones, while Dev Jewellery Shop, Ashok Vihar, Nandi Dham, Chhotu Ram Chank was de-notified after no Covid-19 cases were reported from there in the last 28 days.

However, based on the recommendations of the Containment Review Committee, District Magistrate, Amit Khatri, in a four-page order, 60 containment zone have been set up in Gurugram block, 2 in Pataudi and one in Sohna. Thus a total of 63 containment zones have been made in the district.

Meanwhile, health officials have detected 30 new positive cases of coronavirus on Thursday including one death. With this, the total number of positive cases reached 367 in Gurugram including 171 active cases and 193 discharged from hospitals.

According to the health department officials, at least one Covid-19 case has been reported in the last week from each of these new areas. As per the district health bulletin, most of the persons recently infected with the coronavirus were people working in small factories, security guards, and domestic helpers who reside in high population density areas. Most of them had contracted the virus after coming in contact with a Covid-19 patient.

Of the 83 cases reported on May 26 to 28, Eight are the contacts of a high-risk a confirmed case in Rajendra Park area and Eight from Sector-18 and Sarhoul village, five from sector-10A, Four from Gandhi Nagar, three health workers, three from Shankar Chowk, two from Dundahera, two from BSF camp Bhodsi and one each from Gandhi Nagar, Hari Nagar, Ganga vihar, Ashok vihar, Acharyapuri, Jyoti Park, Sector-14, Chakkarpur, Basai Enclave and 12 police personnel who were posted in border areas like Kapashera, Dundahera and Udyog vihar was also infected from the virus.

“As per the guidelines of the ministry of health and family welfare, we have declared the same number of buffer zones along every containment zones. The review of these containment zones will take place only after no case would appear in the next 28 days,” a health official said.
