2-day shutdown declared in many Sambalpur areas

In view of the increasing number of Covid-19 cases in Sambalpur, the district administration on Wednesday declared a shutdown in some parts of the Sambalpur Municipal Corporation (SMC) for two days, July 9 and 10.

The shutdown would be enforced in Burla’s Ward-3 to Ward-7 under the SMC barring the VIMSAR campus.

Intra-district movement of public and private vehicles, public movement would be restricted while shop and other commercial establishments and Government and private institutions would remain shut during the two days.

However, emergency services such as all medical establishments, medicine stores, movement of state and central Government officials on emergency duty, petrol pumps, milk booths, movement of goods carriers, agricultural activities, marriages and funerals with permission of local authorities would continue to be operational.

“Any deviations in this regard shall be viewed seriously and the violators will be prosecuted as per law,” warned the district administration.
