2 women held in link with murder of two cops in Sonepat

Haryana Police on Friday arrested two women friends of gangsters Amit and Sandeep who were present on the spot when two cops were brutally stabbed to death by the gangsters in Butana area of Gohana in Sonepat district while they were on patrol duty on the intervening night of June 29 and 30. Addressing media persons, Sonepat Superintendent of Police Jashandeep Singh Randhawa said that the accused women who have been identified as Asha and Sushila Rani, residents of Butana village were allegedly present in the car of the assailants during the incident.

 Both the women have confessed their presence and their relations with Amit and Sandeep. Amit who stabbed the cops was killed in an encounter while Sandeep who too sustained bullet injuries was captured.

Both the women were produced in the local court from where they were sent to two days of police custody. The Police officer said that now total three accused out of six have been arrested.

Sandeep, Sushila and Asha are currently in police custody while Amit was killed in an encounter on June 30. "Our teams are now on a look out for Vikas and Neeraj, the co-accused of the case who are on the run,” he added.

According to police, Investigations revealed that a couple of hours ahead of the incident, Amit had picked the four accused and later had picked up the two women from their house in Butana. 

The women allegedly gave sedatives to their families to escape from the house. All the six were having drinks inside the car which was parked on the road side at around 300 meters from the Butana police post.SPO Kaptan and Constable Ravinder saw them and they had arguments. This ended with the stabbing of the two cops. After committing the crime, Amit and Sandeep dropped the women at some distance from their house and left for Jind.

 Meanwhile, constable Ravinder had scribbled the number of the vehicle involved in the incident.  The deceased policemen Special Police Officer (SPO) Kaptan Singh (42) and Constable Ravinder were posted at the Butana police post.

Their bodies were found lying in a pool of blood on the road near a closed building of the Haryali centre, approximately 500 metres from the Butana police post.
