nTwenty-five prisoners have tested Covid positive in Chhattisgarh's Ramanujganj jail, leading to an inspection of the prison by the Balrampur district Collector Shyam Dhawade.
Dhawade gave necessary instructions to prevent the spread of the Covid infection, an official press release said on Sunday.
Earlier, the Collector sent a Health Department team to the prison. Tests showed that out of 468 prisoners, 25 were Covid positive, the press release said.
The Collector then inspected the entire jail with Jail Superintendent G.S. Markam and interacted with the prisoners.
He instructed the jail authority to provide enough masks, sanitizers and other essential materials to the inmates, the press release added.
The Collector told the jail authorities to provide quality food to the prisoners, according to the standard menu. Special care was needed for patients suffering from sugar and high blood pressure, the communique said.
He ordered the jail superintendent to adhere to the instructions and guidelines of the Health Department to prevent the spread of Covid-19.
