In view of the spike in coronavirus cases in Nabarangpur, the district administration on Friday announced a three-day shutdown in entire district starting from Saturday.
Exercising the power conferred under Sections 2, 3 and 4 of the Epidemic Disease Act, 1897, Nabarangpur Collector Ajit Kumar Mishra imposed the shutdown with effect from 5 am of August 8 till midnight of August 10 for containment of the spread of virus under Regulation 8 of the Odisha Covid-19 Regulations, 2020.
As per the shutdown norms, all the non-essential activities and movement of vehicles and people would be restricted to prevent transmission of the disease. Besides, gathering of people , political rallies and religious function s have been banned.
However, all essential services like hospitals, medicine stores, petrol pumps, telecom services, media, water supply and sanitation, electricity supply, milk booths, dhabas on the NHs, hotels, horticulture, fisheries and construction activities are exempted from the shutdown restrictions.
So far, the district has registered 342 positive cases with 11 new cases detected on the day. While 88 cases are active, 252 patients have recovered from the disease. The virus has claimed one life.
