38 more Covid cases in BBSR; total 640

Bhubaneswar on Saturday reported 38 new Covid-19 cases, with which the total tally in the capital city rose to 640 with 317 active ones.

Of the new cases, 26 cases were detected from quarantine centres and 12 were local contacts, the Bhubaneswar Municipal Corporation (BMC) said.

The quarantine cases included  a 66-year-old man of Baramunda, a 50-year-old man of Shastri Nagar, a 40-year-old quarantined woman, three  employees  of a Government office at BJB Nagar, a 29-year-old woman of Shailashree Vihar, three women employees of a private hospital, a 33-year-old man of Shikarchandi Basti, a 70-year-old man of Mancheswar Adimata Colony,  a 19-year-old male of Kedar Gouri and a 48-year-old man and a 62-year-old man of Chandrasekharpur BDA Colony. A 27-year-old employee of a Central Government hospital, a 35-year-old man in a quarantine centre, a 23-year-old woman of Rasulgarh, a 23-year-old woman of Kalinga Vihar, an employee of a private hospital, a 17-year-old girl and a 36-year old woman of same family of Kalinga Vihar, a 53-ryear-old man of Palasuni, a 27-year-old man of Nayapalli with travel history to Delhi also tested positive.

The locals contact cases included a 58-year-old man of Kalinga Vihar Kolathi a 40-year-old man of Pokhariput Kargil Basti, a 57-year-old man of Bhimatangi Housing Board, a 27-year-old man and a 28-year-old man of same family of Chandrasekharpur HB Colony, three cases of same family of Ganganagar, three cases of same family of Niladri Vihar and   a 55-year-old man of Nayapalli.

However, six patients recovered from the disease on the day in the city, the BMC said.

Meanwhile, in view of the surging virus cases in Bhubaneswar, the civic authorities on Saturday started a serological survey in the city to know the immunological status of the community and high risk groups with technical support provided by the Regional Medical Research Centre (RMRC).

In Cuttack city, 10 persons, including a local contact, tested positive. With this, the city’s total tally rose to 239. The new positive cases included three corona warriors.

With the new cases, the number active cases in Cuttack rose to 205. However, 32 persons have recovered from the disease and two have died.
