The Uttarakhand Government could make changes in its recently released schedule of examinations of the universities and colleges if the situation arising out of spread of novel Coronavirus aggravates further.
The State Minister for higher education Dhan Singh Rawat told the Pioneer that though the state government has released the schedule of examinations and admissions for the universities and colleges of the state, a lot would depend on the condition of the contagion of Covid-19 in the state.
“If the situation becomes acute or aggravates further we would make necessary changes in the schedule. Our first priority is the safety of the students and staff members,’’ he said. The minister’s statement assumes significance since the state government had recently directed the universities and colleges of the state to conduct examinations in the month of July.
The principal secretary, Anand Vardhan in an order had also released the schedule of new admission and next academic session for the varsities and colleges. According to it the new admissions would start in September and the next session for the old students can start from August after holding examinations in the month of July. The teachers were directed to complete the syllabus before June 7.
Meanwhile the Students union of Doon University has demanded that the students should be promoted to next semester partly on the basis of previous semester record and rest on the basis of assignments and internal assessments.
The National Students Union of India (NSUI) has also demanded that the students should be promoted to higher classes without examination.
