Centre needs to release funds for employment generation: CM

Wednesday, 16 September 2020 | PNS | Ranchi

Chief Minister Hemant Soren on Tuesday said the economy of the State and country is in shambles and the Centre owes thousands of crores of rupees to Jharkhand. The CM said that for employment generation in the State lots of funds are required and the Central Government must release funds for the same.

The CM, while interacting with media persons in Dumka on Tuesday during his three-day tour said that only from Coal India enterprises the State is to be paid over 30-40 thousand crore rupees only for land compensation. “But, since independence we got nothing. Other states have got the funds, but not Jharkhand. This is for the first time recently the Union Coal Minister has paid Rs 250 crore to the State,” he said.

“Giving the economic condition today it is very difficult to generate employment without funds. It is, therefore, we have demanded financial help from the Centre so that we can provide employment to youth, farmers and labourers of the State. Although, we have started new employment schemes in the State using the internal resources of the State,” the CM said.

Meanwhile, addressing people in a programme the CM said that the benefits of the government’s welfare schemes are reaching home. “Many more schemes are being made by the state government, you will also get the benefit of those schemes. This is a beginning so that all of you continue to get the benefits of government schemes. Poor families had to face many troubles during the Corona epidemic. Many plans have been made for the people of rural areas to deal with the corona epidemic. The problems are many but the State government is working in many directions to deal with the problems. Also, the government is preparing an action plan in rural and urban areas so that every person can get employment. Plantation work started under MGNREGA scheme, construction of playground has been started, work of check dams is going on. Apart from this, an action plan is being prepared for people of every category,” he said.

The CM added in a programme, “The government stands with you in every trouble. You do not have to worry. The corona epidemic today is spreading not only in our country, State but also all over the world. Take special care of yourself and your loved ones.”

“There is no treatment available for this epidemic till now. Take care to wash your hands regularly. Take special care of cleanliness. The effect of corona is more in urban areas than in rural areas. But, this does not mean that Corona cannot happen to you. You are urged to strictly follow the rules of protection from Covid-19. The government is worried about prevailing poverty in the State and is working towards removing it. As soon as the government was formed, ‘Sarkar Aapke Dwar’ programme was started in all the districts so that the problems of more and more people could be resolved. But, it was closed due to the Corona epidemic, now it will be started again,” he said.

The CM took part in various programmes in Dumka and distributed assets among people and interacted with them to know about their problems and issues.
