CM seeks J’khand coop for Ichha Dam

Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik on Saturday wrote to his Jharkhand counterpart Hemanta Soren seeking cooperation in an early completion of the Ichha Dam over river Kharkhai in Jharkhand  for benefit of farmers belonging to both States.

Patnaik also sought Soren’s cooperation for storage of water up to Full Reservoir Level (FRL) in the Chandil Dam in monsoon for mitigation of flood in Odisha. He said the Subarnarekha irrigation project of Odisha would be able to utilise its full potential only after completion of the Ichha Dam in Jharkhand.A sum of Rs 1,026.91 crore has so far been paid to Jharkhand for the above works against an estimated share cost of Rs 1,208 crore of Odisha, he stated.
