CM Yogi stresses on proactive approach to tame coronavirus

Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath has asked officials to take COVID-19 pandemic as a challenge and intensify the fight against it, saying a proactive approach is required to negate the coronavirus threat.

Presiding over a high level unlock review meeting at his official residence here on Thursday, the CM directed officials to pay attention on improving the treatment and control of COVID-19 in the districts of Kanpur Nagar, Jhansi, Varanasi, Gorakhpur and Prayagraj.

“Send experts from SGPGIMS and KGMU to camp in Kanpur Nagar to  guide and supplement the existing health infrastructure.” he said and asked the additional chief secretaries of Health and Medical Education departments to visit Level-2 and Level-3 Covid hospitals of Lucknow district and give a report about vacant beds,” Yogi said.

The CM further directed officials to strengthen surveillance activities in the state, including Kanpur Nagar. He asked them to improve contact tracing and door-to-door survey activities. He also instructed them to maintain caution in the containment zones and medically screen every person in such zones.

He asked the Integrated Command and Control Centre (ICCC) at districts to maintain communication with the home isolated patients and get feedback on their condition.

“The CM Helpline can also be used in this work. Expedite enforcement activities for compulsory use of masks,” the CM said.

The CM asked officials to ensure adequate availability of beds in Level-2 and Level-3 Covid hospitals as well as proper arrangements for medical employees and medical equipment. He said ventilators should be available in Level-2 and Level-3 Covid hospitals as per the norms. He asked officials to ramp up Covid testing and increase testing through RT-PCR.

“Prevention is the single most important thing in treatment of COVID-19 hence the people should be made aware of it. Infected persons should be taken to hospitals and treated according to the symptoms,” the CM said.

He directed the DG Medical Health and DG Medical Education to furnish details of increase in the capacity of beds of Level-2 and Level-3 Covid hospitals. He also asked the officials to get feedback from the DMs about the nodal officer deployed for ICCC.  Similarly, the feedback on nodal officers for ambulance services should be taken from the CMO of the concerning district, he said.

The CM directed officials to launch effective rescue and relief measures in flood-affected areas. He said the affected persons should be provided every type of help and relief and rescue measures should be briefed in the media regularly. For the purpose of employment, the district level employment offices should be activated.

Tiwari, Infrastructure and Industrial Development Commissioner Alok Tandon, Agriculture Production Commissioner Alok Sinha, Additional Chief Secretary (Home and Information) Awanish Kumar Awasthi, Additional Chief Secretary (Finance) Sanjiv Mittal, Additional Chief Secretary to Chief Minister SP Goyal, Director General of Police Hitesh Chandra Awasthi, Additional Chief Secretary (Health) Amit Mohan Prasad, Additional Chief Secretary (Medical Education) Dr. Rajneesh Dubey, Additional Chief Secretary (Rural Development and Panchayati Raj) Manoj Kumar Singh, Additional Chief Secretary (MSME) Navneet Sehgal, Additional Chief Secretary (Agriculture) Devesh Chaturvedi, Principal Secretary to Chief Minister Sanjay Prasad, Secretary to Chief Minister Alok Kumar and other senior officers.
