Congress leaders, including its Delhi unit chief Anil Kumar, were detained while trying to march to the Lieutenant Governor's office in Civil Lines here, in a protest against the BJP's alleged move to topple the Rajasthan Government.

The protest was held against the "anti-democratic and anti-constitutional" actions of the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) to topple the democratically-elected Congress government in Rajasthan, Kumar said. Delhi Congress president Anil Kumar said that when the country is reeling under the Covid-19 pandemic with a one-day count of over 50,000 cases on Sunday, the Modi Government at the Centre was playing petty politics to topple the Congress-led Governments in the country.

Kumar said that after Karnataka and Madhya Pradesh, the BJP was trying to destabilize the Government in Rajasthan, despite Chief Minister Ashok Gehlot proving his majority and requesting the Governor to honour the state cabinet’s decision to convene the Assembly session.

The Congress president accused the Governor of dancing to the tune of the BJP leadership to topple the Rajasthan Government which the Congress will resist with all its might to 'Save Democracy-Save Constitution', to expose the anti-democratic and anti-constitutional actions of the BJP. Among prominent leaders who participated in demonstration are DPCC vice-presidents Jai Kishan, Mudit Agarwal,  Ali Mehndi, Dr Narendra Nath, Mateen Ahmed, Hari Shankar Gupta, Amrish Gautam, a large number of district and block Congress committee presidents and Municipal Councillors.
