The death toll in the Covid-19 pandemic in Chhattisgarh crossed the century mark on Tuesday as five patients died in different districts. The total now stands at 104.
Also, 313 fresh cases were detected and 222 patients were discharged from hospitals following their recovery on Tuesday, officials said.
A 52-year-old man from Nandi Chowk in Rajnandgaon was admitted in Dr BR Ambedkar Memorial hospital Raipur on August 9 with breathlessness and pneumonitis in both lungs.
He suffered cardiopulmonary arrest on August 9 and died. He was later found Covid positive, the officials said.
A 59-year-old man from Sikola Basti in Durg had fever for the past one week and later had breathing trouble. He was brought to Ambedkar Hospital where he died on Monday night. The man was Covid positive.
A 34-year-old man from Neora Tilda block in Raipur was admitted in Ambedkar Hospital following breathlessness, cough and fever on July 29.
He too died due to Covid, pneumonia and respiratory distress, the officials said.
A Covid positive 50-year-old woman from Santoshi Nagar in Raipur was admitted in Ambedkar Hospital on Monday. She died the same day.
An 18-year-old youth from Rajnandgaon was admitted in AIIMS Raipur on August 8 with head injury and fractured thigh bones after an accident.
He was also found Covid positive and died of cardiac arrest on Monday morning, the officials added.
With these fatalities, the total number of Covid positive deaths has reached 104 in Chhattisgarh.
Also, so far 12,938 people have been found Covid positive in the state, of which 9,239 were discharged upon their recovery in hospitals. Currently there are 3,595 active Covid patients in Chhattisgarh.
