Chhattisgarh Chief Minister Bhupesh Baghel on Saturday paid tribute to Maharishi Aurobindo, saying many were pushed into depression during Covid-19 and the treatment lay in spirituality.
It is necessary to make meditation, yoga and exercise a part of daily life to keep away mental illness, he said in an address on the ‘The Progress Global Award 2020’ programme organized at a hotel in Raipur.
Sri Aurobindo Yoga and Knowledge Foundation, Durg, held the function, said an official communication.
Describing Aurobindo as a leading light of spiritual consciousness, Baghel said the Indian rishi-muni through long penance and knowledge attained spiritual pinnacle.
The Chief Minister said good citizens cannot be prepared if one denies quality education to the children. Teachers play a key role in the overall welfare and progress of society.
Underlining the importance of spirituality during Covid, Baghel said it was during the pandemic one had to organize life ensuring prevention from virus. He appreciated the Foundation for felicitating institutes and teachers working to ensure quality education.
He gave away 85 awards to educational institutes, universities, colleges, teachers and students.
