On the third day of the National Seminar organized by B R Ambedkar University of Social Sciences, MHOW on the topic Ek Bharat Shresht Bharat - Dekho Apna North East, Guest Speaker W L. Hangshing, Former Chief Commissioner, Customs & Central Excise, Shillong narrated about the culture and geographical location of the North Eastern State of Tripura.
He also told about the prevailing misconceptions about the culture of Tripura. The eastern part is classified in the Himalayas, Patkai and Brahmaputra and Barak Valley plains.
The Himalayas in the north, the Meghalaya plateau in the south and the Nagaland, Mizoram and Manipur hills in the east have an impact on the climate of Tripura.
He further said that Tripura is considered as an educational center. It has the influence of Bengali culture. It is famous for its beautiful nature, as well as beautiful buildings, historical monuments and beautiful lakes. The Folk culture is the backbone of the Tripura State.
Great Poet Rabindra Nath Tagore was also influenced by the culture of Tripura and his poems have a glimpse of it. Tripura is a historically very rich state. It has immense natural resources. The culture here reflects the culture of unity in diversity.
The Opening Statement was given by Neeru Mishra at the beginning of the program. While delivering the Presidential Speech, Prof Kishore John, Dean said that the culture, art, heritage and nature of the North East states are very unique.
New social development works can be done by collecting more information about these areas for which social research is the most powerful medium. So the university will work in this direction. The program was conducted by Manoj Gupta.
