Day after Vikas Dubey's killing, 2 Gwalior natives held for helping gang members

Sunday, 12 July 2020 | Staff Reporter | Bhopal

Despite having gunned down by the UP STF in an encounter on Friday, dreaded Uttar Pradesh gangster Vikas Dubey still lives in the political arena of Madhya Pradesh, as 24 Assembly by-polls are approaching fast.

Meanwhile, the UP STF has also arrested two Gwalior natives on charges of aiding and sheltering two of the associates of Dubey after massacre of eight policemen in Kanpur’s Chaubeypur police station area days ago.

Having levelled all sorts of charges on ruling Bharatiya Janata Party over mysterious appearance and nabbing of Dubey from Ujjain couple of days ago, Congress party in Ujjain has announced to purify Shankh dwar from where the dreaded Kanpur muscleman was nabbed by the private security guards on Thursday.

“The Shivraj Government has sullied the sanctity of the temple by making a dreaded criminal and murderer surrender at the doorsteps of lord Mahakal and the Congress workers will be purifying the Shankh dwar from where he entered the temple,” said former Kamal Nath Minister Sajjan Singh Verma.

Senior leaders including former CM Kamal Nath, Rajya Sabha MPs –Digvijay Singh and Vivek Tankha, working president Jitu Patwari and others have raised questions on the recovery of fugitive gangster in Ujjain. Even BJP national vice president Uma Bharti too had put some question marks on Dubey’s appearance in Ujjain and that too inside Mahakal temple.

Videos have surfaced in social media showing Dubey entering the temple

without any hassle and also roaming around inside the temple premises without any fear or pressure of being caught. A video had shown him inside Nandi hall in the temple and someone was shooting a video from behind

Home minister Narottam Mishra came down heavily on the Congress party for the announcement, “This is nothing but political pretention.” May be its devil or a seer, everyone can visit the doorsteps of the lord Mahakal, he added criticising the opposition for milking the incident for political mileage.

The UP Special Task Force (STF) has arrested two Gwalior natives –Om Prakash Pandey and Anil Pandey, couple of days ago on charges of aiding and hiding slain gangster Vikas Dubey’s two associates including Shashikant Pandey and Shivam Dubey. To add, an alert was sounded by UP police after the gangster and his gang fled Kanpur after killing policemen and many of them were suspected to have slipped into the Gwalior-Chambal region which shares the border with Uttar Pradesh.

Both are named in killing of eight policemen in Chuabeypur village in Kanpur (UP) recently. The local police had no idea about this until the UP police informed them about the arrest on Saturday.

A team of UP STF also reached Ujjain on Friday to probe into the matter of Vikas Dubey reaching Ujjain despite a high alert in all the nearby states. Dubey had reportedly reached Ujjain in an SUV from Faridabad (Haryana), Kota, Jahalawad (Rajasthan) and on the request of UP police, the MP police is probing into the route to verify facts associated with his arrest. Three persons including two UP based lawyers and a liquor company manager were rounded up by Ujjain police after the arrest of Dubey.
