3 kids drown in Tel river in Nabarangpur

Nabarangpur: Three children, including two girls, drowned in the Tel river near Toharar in Nabarangpur district on Thursday. The kids, aged between three and six years, were taking bath. As they did not return home, their family members searched for them but in vain. They then informed Fire Service personnel. After a brief search, the Fire Service personnel fished out the three bodies. A pall of gloom descended on the village following the incident.

Ram temple foundation laid in Keonjhar

Keonjhar: On the day of Bhoomi Pujan at Ayodhya on Wednesday, the Namo Sena laid foundation-stone of a Shri Ram temple at a beautiful natural environment near Judiaghat on the outskirt of Keonjhar town. One Rama Krishna Patnaik has donated his land for construction of the temple. Social worker Buta Singh and Namo Sena district president Pratap Rout were present. Sachidananda Patnaik, Radharaman Patnaik, Arabinda Patnaik, Amit Ram, Madan Mohan Das, Akash Nath, Debadarshan Dad and Satyajit Mishra coordinated the programme.

Balanga Matric toppers felicitated

Balanga: The Alumni Association of Balanga Govt High School felicitated Matric A1 students of the Balanga area recently. Association president Dillip Pattanaik, secretary Santosh Kumar Pati, Sukanta Baral, Prakash Pradhan, Saroj Kumar Deo and others felicitated the students giving them educational kits and certificates at their homes. Those felicitated were Lopita Jena of Balanga Nodal High School, Aditya Sahoo of Lokanathdev Bidyapitha Garchandapur, Pratyusha Paitial of Kamakantia High School and Ananya Mohapatra of Saraswati Sishu Vidya Mandir.

Python spotted near M’giri Covid Hospital 

Malkangiri: An eight-feet-long python was rescued in front of the Malkangiri Covid Hospital on Wednesay evening. Locals spotted the snake, an Indian rock python, crawling on the main road near the hospital after rainfall in the area. Being informed, a member of the Snake Helpline reached the spot and rescued the reptile. It was later handed over to the Forest Department and eventually released into the nearby forest.

King cobra rescued from Ganjam temple

Brahmapur: A nine-feet-long king cobra was rescued from a temple at Chaitanpur Sasan under Patrapur block of Ganjam district on Wednesday evening. A priest of the temple spotted the snake under the Hundi and informed villagers. Being contacted by locals, a member of the Snake Helpline and Forest officials reached the place and rescued the reptile. The animal was later released into the nearby reserve forest.
