Infection rate goes northward

In a worrying sign for the State Government and health department, the infection rate in Uttarakhand had gone up to 4.80 per cent in the last three weeks. On July 16, the infection rate was 3.99 per cent.

The four plain districts of Haridwar, Udham Singh Nagar, Dehradun and Nainital continue to paint a dismal picture with a big increase in their infection rate in recent days. Nainital district has the highest infection rate (7.74 percent) in the state. Here a total of 1339 samples have reported positive out of total 17309 tests done so far.

Haridwar and Udham Singh Nagar districts have infection rates of 6.53 and 5.70 percent respectively. Tehri has an infection rate of 5.44 and Dehradun 4.99 per cent. Recent surge in cases has also brought Uttarkashi up in terms of infection rate.

Here the infection rate is 3.67 per cent.  With only 101 positive cases out of 6648 samples tested so far the Chamoli district has the lowest infection rate ( 1.52 percent) in the 3State.
