The Jajpur district administration on Tuesday imposed restrictions on bus services between Jajpur and Kolkata in West Bengal and Rourkela with immediate effect.
The decision was taken during a meeting at the district Collector’s residential office on Tuesday in wake of increasing cases of Covid 19 in the district.
The plying of buses to Kolkata and Rourkela has been suspended after both the cities have turned into Covid-19 hotspots, the officials said.
“In view of rapid spread of Covid-19 pandemic and as per the decision taken in the meeting held on July 14 in the residential office of the Collector, Jajpur, the plying of buses (Stage Carnage) Jajpur to Kolkata (to and fro) and Jajpur to Rourkela (to and fro) is hereby suspended until further order,” said Jajpur Collector Ranjan Kumar Das in an official order.
Earlier, Bhadrak district administration also imposed restrictions on the movements of buses to and from Kolkata.
Notably, the Covid-19 tally in Jajpur district rose to 914 as on Tuesday with 1 more person testing positive for the virus in the last 24 hours.
Most of the positive cases which were reported from the district have travel history to West Bengal.
As many as 2,956 migrants from West Bengal have returned to Jajpur since outbreak of the Covid 19 pandemic.
