Thursday, 09 April 2020 | PNS | Dehradun

Senior Cabinet Minister Madan Kaushik has said  the Tablighi Jamaat followers are responsible for increase in the number of COVID-19 cases in Uttarakhand. He said  8,557 people in different parts of  State were under quarantine on April 3 but this figure has now jumped to 45,415 due to  Jamaat followers. He said  some of Jamaat followers could be still hiding in State threatening their own lives, those of their families and society in the process. Kaushik said such people should come out of their hideouts. The Minister said prevailing lock-down would be strictly enforced and present relaxation given to buy essential items could be reduced. He said that the ministers in-charge of the districts have been asked to monitor their districts from their homes.
