JPC Area commander, aide held with weapons

Hazaribag police on Thursday night arrested two hardcore members of Jharkhand Prastuti Committee (JPC) including an area commander from Katkamsandi jungle of the Hazaribag. Police also recovered weapons from them. The district police were searching them for a long time. They are accused of more than two dozen cases in different police stations of Hazaribag, Ramgarh and Chatra districts.

Superintendent of Police Karthik S got a tip off that a group of extremists were seen in the Katkamsandi jungle of Katkamsandi police station areas.  Hazaribag SP immediately formed a police team under the leadership of Additional Superintendent of police. The police started the search operation. Some members of the group escaped from the site, but police caught two persons.

They confessed that their name is Purushottam Ganjhu and Baijnath Rajwar. Ganjhu is a resident of Bundu village of Keradari police station and Rajwar is the resident of Chandol village of Barkagaon police station. Baijnath Rajwar is the area commander of the Jharkhand Prastuti Committee (JPC) and Purushottam Ganjhu is an important person of the organization.

The SP said that one arrested member Purushottam Kumar was released from the jail one month before and tried to strenghten the organization. For this purpose he was in the jungle with Baijnath Rajwar.

Kartik said that the presence of JPC was over in the area after killing of important persons in encounters and some were sent to jail. This arrest is an important achievement of police before Independence Day, he said. Police team is interrogating the arrested extremists. Police also recovered weapons from them.
