Tuesday, 04 August 2020 | PNS | BHUBANESWAR

Two low pressures formed in the Bay of Bengal are likely to trigger heavy to very heavy rainfall in the State,The depressions would be formed on August 4 and August 8 which might trigger heavy rain, said the Regional Office of the Indian Metrological Department (IMD) here on Monday.

The low pressure on August 4 would bring rains till August 6. Likewise, the depression on August 8 would trigger rains till August 11.

“The monsoon trough-line is now moving southward; hence, Odisha would experience rainfall. This wiouldl be a welcome relief for the much distressed farmers in the State, who have been hit by deficit rainfall. A low pressure area likely to form over north Bay of Bengal around 4th August,” said the IMD

Heavy rainfall is very likely to occur at one or two places over the districts of Malkangiri, Koraput, Nabarangpur, Gajapati, Rayagada, Bargarh and  Boudh  while thunderstorm with lightning is very likely to occur at one or two places over the districts of Balangir, Subarnapur, Boudh, Sambalpur, Angul, Kendrapadda Jagatsinghpur, Bhadrak and Dhenkanal during the period.
