Man held for cheating people on pretext of providing tender of FCI

n The Economic Offences Wing (EOW) of Delhi Police has arrested a man who used to cheat people on the pretext of providing tender of the Food Corporation of India (FCI) and agency of Toyota company.

Police said the accused has cheated people to the tune of Rs 4.62 crores.The accused has been identified as Praveen Kumar Singh. Police said that he is also found involved in two cases of cheating.According to Dr O P Mishra, the Joint Commissioner of Police, EOW, a complaint was received from Sunil Vikram, a resident of Punjab in which he alleged that Praveen Kumar Singh along with his associates had induced the him on the pretext of arranging tender of Food Corporation of India and agency of Toyota company in Punjab region and cheated the complainant for a sum of Rs 4.62 crores out of which Rs 1.62 crores was given through banking transactions and Rs 3 crores in cash.

“A First Information Report (FIR) under relevant sections of Indian Penal Code (IPC) and investigation was taken up,” said the Joint CP.“

During the investigation, the police team found that Praveen had introduced himself as well connected with politicians and residing in Members of Parliament (MP) Flats in North Avenue.

He had promised the complainant that he will make arrangements for getting FCI tenders and agency of Toyota for the Punjab region in his favour,” said the Joint CP.“The accused had taken Rs 4.62 Crores for this job from the complainant. However, neither any FCI tender was allotted nor any agency was given in the name of the complainant.

Later on, it was found that the accused was a fraud and had cheated the complainant,” said the Joint CP.“Initially, accused Praveen Kumar Singh had joined the investigation of the case, but later on, he stopped joining investigation at EOW and was absconding. Finally the accused was arrested, while he was visiting his lawyer’s office.
