South Delhi Municipal Corporation (SDMC) on Tuesday sanitised Markaz building in Nizamuddin and its surrounding areas with 1 per cent sodium hypochlorite.
A senior SDMC official said that a mass sanitisation and disinfection drive carried out at Nizamuddin west and adjoining areas. “A team of public health department visited the area with power sprayers and wearing full body Personal Protection Equipment (PPE) and sanitised Markaz house from inside and outside.
The official further said that the civic body deployed four tankers and two fire tenders for spraying 1 per cent Sodium Hypochlorite solution in the area of Nizamuddin Basti, adjoining Nizamuddin West and east colony areas and Markaj building for adequate sanitisation and disinfection.
The civic body also sanitised areas such as Abul Fazal Encalve, Ashok Nagar, Chirag Delhi, New krishna park, Vikas Nagar, JJ colony Madipur, Ekta camp in RK Puram, Mangal Puri, Mansa Ram Park,Taimoor Nagar, Lado Sarai, Krishna Colony, Bhogal, Malikpur, Deenpur, Matiala, Indira camp in Lajpat Nagar.
“SDMC also deployed drones and tankers in the vulnerable areas especially in JJ cluster, congested areas and densely populated colonies under SDMC. Drones are used in Mahipalpur, Gautam Nagar, Hauz Khas for aerial spray of disinfectants.
“At least 30 kg of Sodium hypochlorite and bleaching solutions was sprayed by drones in these areas. In all four zones,16 sprinklers, 4 jetting machines and 29 tankers were deployed for spraying disinfectants on a large scale in all the localities with special focus on major hotspots, quarantine centres, markets, food distribution centers, milk booths, banks and ATMs,” he added.
