A special train from Secunderabad to Danapur (Bihar) was to pass by Jharsuguda junction on Sunday at 2:20 pm. A technical halt was scheduled at Jharsuguda. Among the passengers was a pregnant woman, Payal Kumari (25) and her husband Balkrishna Prasad of Krishnapur of Bihar.
The woman developed labour pain in the train. The railway authorities contacted Jharsuguda Town PS IIC Sabitri Bal, who rushed to the spot. She decided to take her to a hospital in the Police Control Room van.
The woman delivered a baby girl en route to the hospital in the PCR van. And woman IIC supervised the delivery. The mother and child were then admitted to the District Headquarters Hospital, where they are now in good health.
