Minor raped, admitted to AIIMS in critical condition

A 12-year-old girl was sexually assaulted by an unknown person in West Delhi’s Paschim Vihar area.The incident took place on Tuesday.

Police said that the girl has several injury marks on her body and is currently admitted at All India Institute of Medical Sciences (AIIMS) where her condition is stated to be serious.

According to a senior police official, police received information regarding the incident on Tuesday evening.

"The victim was taken to a nearby hospital where she was treated and later referred to another hospital in the city. Police have registered a case under relevant sections," said the senior police official.

According to A Koan, the Deputy Commissioner of Police (DCP), Outer district, police received information on Tuesday regarding assault with a minor girl in Paschim Vihar West police station. An FIR under section 307 (attempt to murder) and POCSO Act has been registered and further investigation is under progress.

"During preliminary investigation, it was found that the parents of the girl are labourers and work in a factory. The incident happened with her when she was alone in her house," said police

According to police, she was hit couple of times on her head and face with a sharp object. "Police teams are scanning CCTV footage of the nearby area to identify the accused person," police added.
