Twenty-seven more people succumbed to the novel Coronavirus in Punjab on Monday, pushing the state’s death toll to 4,807.The mortality rate continued to be at 3.16 percent in the state.As many as 554 fresh cases, reported in the past 24 hours, took the state’s infection count to 1,52,091, stated the state’s health bulletin.
Of the total 27 deaths, Amritsar reported maximum eight casualties; followed by six in Jalandhar; three in Patiala; two each in Hoshiarpur, Pathankot, Ropar; and one each in Faridkot, Gurdaspur, Ludhiana, and Mansa.
Among the fresh cases, the highest 93 were reported from Mohali, followed by 90 in Ludhiana, 76 in Jalandhar, and 51 each in Amritsar and Patiala. In Hoshiarpur, 46 cases were reported, 36 in Bathinda, 17 in Gurdaspur, 13 in Pathankot, 10 in Sangrur, nine in Ropar, eight in Faridkot, seven each in Ferozepur and Muktsar, five each in Fazilka and Nawanshahr, four each in Kapurthala and Fatehgarh Sahib, three in Barnala and two in Moga. On Monday, a total of 572 Coronavirus patients were discharged after recovering from infection, taking the number of cured persons to 1,39,442 in the state, at a rate of 91.68 percent. The state still has 7,842 active COVID-19 cases — accounting for 5.16 percent of the total confIrmed cases in the state till date. Of them, 14 critical patients are on ventilator support, while 150 are on oxygen support, the bulletin added.
